Making hands-on exploration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) learning accessible to all is the cornerstone of ReCreate's mission. By integrating high-tech tools with reuse materials, we provide low-cost high-impact learning and enrichment programs to the students of our region. Our learning programs span from preschool through high school. Building interest in STEAM nurtures a more vibrant community, and creates a stronger future workforce.

In addition to our STEAM program, ReCreate provides waste reduction education and also diverts over 70 tons annually of unwanted items from businesses and individuals to "recreate" hands-on learning and creative expression.

Art and Maker Studio

The Art and Maker Studio is ReCreate’s airy, spacious home base. Here we host birthday parties, field trips, kids’ workshops and camps, as well as classes for adults. We also offer Fun Friday and Family Projects for artists and crafters of all ages. We supply the super cool diverted materials, you supply the creativity!

ReCreate is home to the GeniusMobile.  It is a maker education program on wheels bringing hands-on project based learning to schools in our region.

Each year more than 10,000 local students participate in More Art! Less Waste!, a lively program we take to local elementary schools. Our pre-school and kindergarten visits, as well as the field trips we host at our Art and Maker Studio, also promote the “3 R’s”: reduce, reuse, recycle.

ReUse Warehouse

ReCreate collects perfectly good, incredibly cool—but no longer needed—materials from local businesses and sells them to artists, crafters, sewers, knitters, costume-makers, artists, and anyone with a project. Our goods are so inspiring you may never walk into another commercial art supply store again—especially since our prices are so very low!

Community Events

Look for our colorful, can’t-miss-it ReCreate van or GeniusMobile at fairs, festivals, and special events held by local businesses such as IKEA or Whole Foods. We set up a table, provide materials (diverted, of course) and tools for a free, on-the-spot art-making experience. Armed with glue guns, good humor, and boundless creativity, our fun facilitators can bring out the artistic genius in anyone. Be sure to stop by!
