ReCreate is grateful to have the following people serving on our Board of Directors.

Karen Quinlan - Interim President
Karen Quinlan is a recently retired Roseville City School District administrator having had 40 years of experience in education. She is excited to offer the ReCreate Board her passion for child development, leadership, teaching and learning strategies. Karen participates in her local community through Soroptimist International of the American River. This is a philanthropic organization that helps promote education and training for women and girls. She recently became a coach for Placer County Office of Education, supporting new administrators clearing their credentials. This includes facilitating their leadership and learning collaborative. In addition, she finds no greater joy than volunteering in her grandchildrens’ TK and 3rd grade classrooms on a weekly basis. Karen's hobbies include yoga, traveling and enjoying live music.

Paula Dionisio - Treasurer
Paula Dionisio is a managing director in the audit and assurance services Deloitte LLP. She is a certified public accountant with over 25 years of experience in public accounting. She serves both public and private companies and has worked in the Bay Area, Sydney, London, and Tokyo Deloitte offices. She is passionate about working with and mentoring children. She is an art docent volunteer at her children’s elementary schools and is an active member of the schools’ parent teacher clubs. She is also a den leader for the cub scouts.

J. Ross Parrelli - Secretary
J Ross Parrelli is a global touring, award-winning recording artist, civic leader, and frequency architect rewiring community through education, the creative economy, and advocacy.

As founder of Beats Lyrics Leaders and Kidzapalooza.org, and leader of the Creative Economy Entrepreneurship Initiative at Roseville Venture Lab, she builds pipelines from arts education to workforce for creatives while serving in regional leadership roles on the Auburn Economic Development Commission, Placer County Economic Development Board, and Arts Council of Placer County.

A former elected trustee of Auburn Union School District, active advocate with Arts Now – Create California and Right to Start, and a recent TEDx speaker, she brings a systems-level lens to equity, access, and opportunity in the arts.

Erica Burgess - Board Member
Erica Burgess is a 3D Production Manager at Apple, where she leads the development and execution of large-scale retail experiences for Apple stores worldwide. With a background spanning project management, visual merchandising, store design, and creative direction, Erica brings extensive expertise in cross-functional leadership, vendor management, and storytelling through immersive environments. Her career includes leadership roles supporting global retail programs and creative teams across major brands.

A frequent ReCreate shopper and longtime supporter, Erica has attended ReCreate events with her two children for many years and previously taught a popular bullet journaling workshop at the studio. She also serves as an art docent at Stoneridge Elementary, where she leads the Art to Remember project and helps foster creativity among students. Erica is passionate about accessible arts education, creative reuse, and building vibrant community learning spaces.

Twiana Armstrong - Board Member
Twiana Armstrong is a dynamic leader with over 25 years of experience in organizational development, leadership training, and change management. She is the CEO and Owner of It’s Personal Enterprises, a leadership consulting firm, and the founder of seeMYchild, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting and empowering youth.

Twiana is known for her engaging public speaking and her ability to inspire individuals and organizations toward meaningful growth and transformation. She serves on the Board of the American Leadership Forum – Mountain Valley, the Cultural Advisory Council for the California State Fair, and is Co-Chair of Community Outreach for the National Association of Women Business Owners.

Her work is rooted in a passion for leadership development, community impact, and lifelong learning.

Nancy Porter - Board Member
Nancy Porter is an expert paper craft artist with a lifelong passion for creative reuse. She believes in making something out of nothing, shopping secondhand first, and helping others discover the joy of creating without paying retail.

A passionate thrifter and highly organized creative, Nancy understands how crafters shop and what inspires them. She delights in transforming donated materials into beautifully organized, accessible resources that spark imagination and make creativity affordable for everyone.

With a degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and a successful career in IT management, Nancy brings strategic insight and operational expertise to her role on the Board of ReCreate. As a longtime donor and dedicated store volunteer, she generously contributes her time, creativity, and leadership to advance ReCreate’s commitment to sustainability and maker education.

Outside of ReCreate, Nancy enjoys traveling with her husband, their two sons’ families, and friends. She also volunteers her time creating fundraiser signage for ATOU, a non-profit dedicated to building empathy in children.

Rhea Chalekar – Junior Board Member
Rhea Chalekar is a junior in high school and has been volunteering with ReCreate for nearly a year. She enjoys dance, singing and playing guitar, and Taekwondo, and cares deeply about protecting the environment. Through her volunteer work, Rhea has helped support the creative reuse mission in many hands-on ways.

As a Junior Board Member, Rhea is excited to take on a larger role by helping make an impact and ensuring youth voices are heard in the community. She is passionate about sustainability and looks forward to contributing ideas that inspire creativity and environmental awareness.
