Learn how to transform repurposed and recycled materials into elements for your junk journal. You will gather a variety of paper like cardstock, book pages, greeting cards, wrapping paper, envelopes,
to create unique textured backgrounds, and collage elements for book pages. Also learn how to embellish for your journal pages and cover with additional ephemera available at ReCreate.

Bio: Cindy and MaryLee Miglino are mixed media artists specializing in reuse, repurposed, recycled, found objects and materials from ReCreate. These recently retired sisters now spend their time in home studios, creating journals, fabric and paper collaging, watercolor and acrylic painting.

Recycled Paper-Making Workshop

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the art of recycled paper-making! Using everyday materials like scrap paper, blenders, and molds crafted from upcycled picture frames, you'll create your own unique sheets of paper. Add your personal touch with optional decorations like flower petals or glitter, and explore the eco-friendly process from start to finish. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or new to paper-making, this class offers a fun and creative way to upcycle and make something beautiful. All materials are provided, and you'll leave with your very own handmade paper creations!

Join us for the first in an event series called ReCreate in Conversation! We received a grant from the Arts Council of Placer County to interview creative reuse artists and other visionaries in the creative reuse community. Shoutout to our education coordinator Madeline Huttie for this wonderful idea!

We'll finally enjoy those ice cream sundaes, have a take-home craft available (of course!), and learn from the phenomenal Shira Lane of Atrium 916, a partner nonprofit in Sacramento who has an art cafe, creative reuse art gallery, and a zero waste mobile art truck! Shira and I agree that for creative reuse infrastructure to succeed in California, it has to be joyful and playful! She is building a coalition of organizations in the area to create reuse infrastructure after SB 54, which addresses single-use packaging.
